Ferguson runner-up in Mountain Moonshine Classic prelim at Smoky Mountain
Carson Ferguson entered his Night Owl National Contractors Inc. No. 93 into Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series competition on Saturday afternoon at Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tenn.) for the Mountain Moonshine Classic.
With 44 Late Models in the pit area, Carson stopped the clock second-quickest in his qualifying group which set him up to start on the front row of his feature. In the first $5,000-to-win feature of the evening, Ferguson dueled with his cousin Chris Ferguson but had to settle for a runner-up finish.
For Saturday's $50,000-to-win finale, Ferguson earned a second-row starting position after finishing third in the Dash. For the Mountain Moonshine Classic, Carson battled inside the Top-5 for much of the 60-lap feature and crossed the line sixth at the checkered flag.
